Matthew Brownfield
President, Raven Public Affairs

Matthew Brownfield is Texas-based political consultant and public affairs specialist. Over the course of his career, Brownfield has directed political campaigns and initiatives in 27 states, winning hundreds of campaigns and delivering millions of votes for his clients.

Matthew Brownfield’s career in Texas politics began at the age of 18, when he served as the driver and grassroots representative for a Texas State Senate campaign. In 2009, after completing college and graduate school, Brownfield launched Nasica Consulting, a company that specialized in door-to-door canvassing, data and analytics, and political technology.

In 2013, Brownfield joined with several of Texas’s top political professionals to found Murphy Nasica & Associates (MNA), Texas’ largest full-service political consulting and public affairs company. For twelve years, he served as a Founding Partner, general consultant, and project manager at MNA. During his time at MNA, Brownfield built one of the largest grassroots mobilization operations in the country. He also led MNA’s Congressional and state legislative consulting practice.

In 2021, the Washington Post awarded his efforts in Congressman Jake Ellzey’s Special Election with the title “Campaign of the Year,” and in 2022, the American Association of Political Consultants named Brownfield “Campaign Manager of the Year.”

Brownfield has worked as a Chief-of Staff in the Texas House of Representatives, and he has served as a political consultant and advisor to three consecutive Texas House Speakers. Brownfield has extensive experience navigating Texas’ political environment and legislative process. At the local level, he maintains a broad network of contacts that stems from a decade plus of consulting and public affairs work at the Texas municipal and county level.

Matthew Brownfield earned a B.A. in Government from Patrick Henry College and an M.A. in Politics from the University of Dallas. Brownfield is a 6th generation Texan who lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Lauren, and their three girls. He serves on the board of Austin Classical School, teaches adult Sunday school at Grace + Peace Austin (PCA), and is an Adjunct Instructor of Politics at the University of Dallas in Irving, TX. He is committed to the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, even when they don’t deserve it.
